Man Utd seriously consider moving to sign £16.8m striker – Report

Manchester United look to be one of the more active clubs in the January transfer market this season as they look to provide Ruben Amorim with the right kind of ammunition to try and salvage the second half of the season.

One major issue with which the Red Devils have struggled so far this season is their inability to score goals regularly.

The strikers – Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee haven’t really performed as expected and this is hurting the club.

Thus, realistically, one position that Manchester United could look to reinforce in this transfer window is signing a number nine.

It is a specialist position and what the Red Devils need is a natural goal scorer who knows where the back of the net is.

As per TuttoJuve, Man Utd are seriously considering a move to sign LOSC Lille striker, Jonathan David. The Canadian center forward has been a regular performer for the French club for quite some time now and his goalscoring numbers have always been good.

David’s contract at the club expires in the summer and it doesn’t look like he plans on putting pen to paper on a new contract. Thus, Lille could put him up for sale this transfer window and are said to value him at around £16.8m.

The 25-year-old has continued his good form so far this season. In 28 games across all competitions, he has scored 17 goals and provided five assists. Those numbers are quite noteworthy.

In Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, there is space for three attacking players and David’s athletic ability should help him play in any one of those three roles.

Jonathan David isn’t likely to cost the club much and let’s wait and see if Man Utd end up signing him up.
