Over the past few days, Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for a new midfielder using the free agent market. One player who is on the radar of Man Utd is out-of-contract French midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
The talented midfielder was with Juventus until last season but the two parties failed to reach an agreement on a new contract.

Throughout the summer, the Les Bleus midfielder was linked with a number of clubs but the transfer never happened.
Now, as per today’s edition of The Mirror, Rabiot has rejected offers from Saudi Pro League clubs and Galatasaray to wait for a big league and Man Utd are now set to open talks with the midfielder to get a deal done.
As per Calciomercato, Rabiot wants a wage package of around £8.4m per year and a signing-on fee of around £12.6m to secure a transfer. The Frenchman is trying to make the most out of his free transfer status.
For Manchester United, the question is whether or not to pay this kind of money to a player who is unlikely to be a starter in Erik ten Hag’s team. At best, he will be a squad player with the occasional start here and there.
Rabiot will also be coming into the team with no pre-season behind him and it might be a struggle for the Frenchman to get up to pace with the rest of his teammates. All these add an asterisk on signing the 29-year-old.
The onus is on Dan Ashworth to make a decision on whether or not to make this transfer happen. It haves its upsides and downsides and Man Utd need to weigh the positives against the negatives and arrive at a conclusion soon.
