Manchester United are consistently linked with England international Kieran Trippier and the latest reports covered in Spain and Italy today are interesting.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport have reported that the Red Devils are not giving up on hiring the services of the Three Lions star from Atletico Madrid

Transfer: Man Utd now willing to agree £81.5million fee to sign player – Report

The famous Italian media outlet have claimed that initially, Man Utd made an offer worth 20 million euros to lure the 30-year-old, however, the move was turned down by the recently crowned La Liga champions.

Now, Manchester United have raised their offer and made a bid of £21.5million (25 million euros) to convince the Rojiblancos to sell. GdS claim that the latest proposal put forward by the Old Trafford outfit has got Diego Simeone thinking.

Trippier played a key role in Atletico’s title-winning campaign but £21.5million is a big amount for someone who will turn 31 soon, especially during the current financial crisis with the pandemic around.

It must be remembered that two years back, the Wanda Metropolitano outfit paid around 25 million euros to sign the English right back from Tottenham Hotspur (ESPN).

In Spain, Sport have covered a story stating that Man Utd’s 20 million euros offer was ‘obviously’ turned down by Atletico and they will continue to refuse bids that are nowhere close to the the asking price i.e. 35 million euros (£30million).

England kicked start their European Championships campaign with a 1-0 victory over Croatia yesterday and Kieran Trippier played every minute of the contest against the World Cup finalists. In your view, should Man Utd meet the asking price to sign the ex Spurs star?
