Manchester United are linked with several central defenders and one of them is Cristian Romero, who won the Serie A Defender of the Season award last season.
Earlier this month, Corriere della Sera reported that Man Utd are favorites to hire the services of the South American star. He is currently playing on loan for Atalanta, who will sign him permanently from Juve for a fee of 16 million euros and and are prepared sell him for a big profit.

More recently, L’Eco di Bergamo (via Calcio Mercato) have claimed that Man Utd are the main contenders and they have even submitted a bid worth 45 million euros to hire the services of the 23-year-old star.
However, the media outlet have claimed that the above mentioned bid might not be enough to lure the Argentine international, who is also on the radar of Barcelona, Tottenham and Liverpool.
Few days back, Corriere della Sera revealed that Atalanta president, Antonio Percassi, is asking for a fee of 60 million euros (£51million) to sell Romero in the summer transfer window.
The La Albiceleste star started 29 league games under Gasperini last season and apart from being defensively solid, he managed to contribute in 5 goals as well (2 goals and 3 assists).
He made his senior international debut earlier this month against Chile, moreover, in his second appearance, he found the net against Colombia. At the moment, he is in Brazil with the Argentina squad to take part in the Copa America. He did not feature in the opening game and it will be intriguing to see if he will start tonight when the South American giants will collide against Uruguay.
In your view, should Man Utd meet the £51million asking price to sign Cristian Romero?
