Raphael Varane is not the only central defender on Manchester United’s wishlist. Reports indicate that Kalidou Koulibaly is on the radar as well.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Napoli have suffered massive losses due to the pandemic and they need to sell star players to balance the books.

The famous Italian source have mentioned that Koulibaly could be offloaded this summer. The African superstar, who earns a salary of 6 million euros a season (£100,000-a-week), is the highest paid player at Napoli and it is stated that his departure would be a major boost for the club’s finances.

GdS claim that Man Utd have submitted an offer worth 30 million euros to hire the services of the 30-year-old central defender but the move has been turned down by president Aurelio de Laurentiis.

As far as the asking price is concerned, few days back, Corriere dello Sport reported that the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona outfit would sell the ex Metz player for a fee of 50 million euros (£43m).

The 47-capped international has been briliant for Napoli and Senegal over the years and he has the quality and experience to strengthen the backline at Old Trafford.

The French-born defender featured in 6 games in the AFCON 2019 and helped his team keep five clean sheets. Unfortunately, he was suspended in the final against Algeria. For Napoli, he has won the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup.

As a player, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won every major prize with Manchester United but as a manager, he is yet to win a trophy for the Red Devils. The Norwegian manager needs a rock-solid defense to challenge for the top prizes next term. In your view, should Man Utd sign Koulibaly or Varane to reinforce things at the back?
