Manchester United suffered their first defeat of the season and the performance made it evident that the backline must be reinforced this summer.

The Red Devils have been consistently linked with Benjamin Pavard and have tabled an offer above the asking price demanded by Bayern Munich.

According to a story covered by La Gazzetta Dello Sport today (news image provided below), Inter Milan are seriously challenging United to lure the Frenchman.

In fact, the Bundesliga star’s preference is to move to the Nerazzurri. However, the Serie A side are finding it hard to agree a deal with Bayern.

Inter initially moved in with an offer worth 25 million euros, which was turned down. Then, they tired a bid of 30 million euros.

However, the German champions continue to demand 35 million euros and are not prepared to lower the price because Man Utd have tabled a bid of 38 million euros (£32.5million) to sign Pavard.

Gazzetta claim Inter have been tracking the player for a long time, on the other hand, Ten Hag has only moved in for the Les Bleus star this summer.

In the opening league fixture vs Werder Bremen, Pavard was an unused substitute and once again, he told Tuchel he wants to leave for Italy.

Man Utd lost 2-0 to Spurs and should strengthen the defense before the closure of the summer transfer window. Will they be able to sign the former Stuttgart defender? Only time will tell.
