Manchester United have not reinforced their midfield department for over three years and now, they fear losing record signing Paul Pogba for nothing as his contract will expire in June 2022.
The Red Devils must improve things in the center of the park and once again, they are linked with French international and Monaco play breaker, Aurelien Tchouameni.
Transfer: Man United to move to finally sign £67.8million star – Report
In the summer transfer window, the Old Trafford outfit were after the 21-year-old defensive midfielder and it was reported that he is valued at around 40 million euros (Duncan Castles).
More recently, Le Parisien have covered a story and stated that Man Utd are following Tchouameni and could move to hire his services in order to strengthen their midfield.
The youngster was a key member of the Les Bleus squad that lifted the UEFA Nations League trophy at the weekend. He put in a fantastic performance against Spain in the final and now reports (Sport) claim that Monaco are asking for a fee of 60 million euros (£50.8million) for their prized asset.
Solskjaer needs to realize that the combination of Fred and McTominay in the center of the park is not good enough when top teams have better players. Moreover, unlike rivals, the Norwegian manager is without a top play breaker.
Serbian international, Nemanja Matic is the team’s only specialist defensive midfielder and now, at the age of 33, he is just a squad player.
In your opinion, should Man Utd bid £50.8million to sign Aurelien Tchouameni?
No Manchester united should go for a better play breaker in Wilfred Ndidi
Manchester United for all the stellar recruiitments of proven winners in Ronaldo, Varane and Sancho, still lack a defensive midfielder and should sign either or both of Aurelian Tchoumaneni and Kelvin Phillips to strengthen the defensive midfield. Fred, Matic and McTominay cannot make it. Fred is always a disaster waiting to happen, Matic is past his prime, and McTominay probably will get there in another year or so. We always get bamboozled by marauding forwards of opposing teams through the middle and many times have conceded goals in that manner. But in my opinion, Solskjaer is the biggest liability United;s quest for glory ever since he has taken over, and he should have been sacked at the end of last season. After having faltered in the league, finishing a massive 12 points behind Manchester City which must be construed as a distant second, then screwing up in the Champions League and dropping into Europa League and also getting beaten on penalty kicks in the final against Villarreal, not to mention being knocked out early in both the Carabao and FA cups, he has brought the club down on many occasions despite the heavy player recruitments. Managers before him were hardly given time to mould the team and were quickly dispatched at the first sign of danger. He is a club legend only for his exploits and success during his playing career and cannot be allowed to stay and bring the club to further decline. He is inept, inexperienced and totally out of his depth to manage a team of Manchester United’s magnitude. It is still early in the season to bring a manager of Conte or Zidane’s ilk, or better still, spare no expenses, go for Nagelsmann, who despite his age, is flying at Bayern Munich. With the Carabao Cup already out of reach, at least go for the league, or the European Cup or at the least go for the FA Cup, which will be a measure of the progress we can make. It will be a big bonus to win any two of the three of the above and will be considered a big success and achievement if the new Manager, whoever is appointed, to win all three. With the strengthening of the coaching and management teams recently, Solskjaer cannot be kept to oversee another disastrous campaign and push United to the doldrums any more. PLEASE SACK HIM!!!!!!!!
United should go for tchoumen & ndidi. Then fire solkjaer, he’snt helping us
