Manchester United were troubled at the back earlier in the campaign and had Jules Kounde as a key target (ESPN). However, the French starlet stayed put at Sevilla.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Old Trafford outfit have asked about the 22-year-old central defender and they have been informed that a huge offer would be needed to get his signing done.

Transfer: Man Utd ready offer of £25million player to sign £200,000-a-week star – Face competition

According to La Colina de Nervión, Kounde is on the radar of several top clubs and to secure his signature, the suitors would have to make an offer very close to the release clause in his contract.

The Spanish outlet have reported that recently, Man Utd inquired about the asking price to lure the former Bordeaux player, who won the Europa League last season, and Sevilla demanded no less than 65 million euros (£56million).

France manager Didier Deschamps has selected Kounde in the squad for the European Championships and it is stated that his market value could change depending on his performance in the competition. He will have to compete with other top center backs like Varane, Kimpembe, Lenglet and Zouma to feature for the World Champions.

The youngster’s current contract with the Andalusian club will expire in 2024 and it has an enormous release clause of over 80 million euros (Mundo Deportivo).

In the second half of the campaign, Harry Maguire was in top form and under his leadership, Man Utd’s defense improved a lot. However, Ole’s back-line has been shaky since their skipper got injured and the likes of Lindelof, Bailly and Tuanzebe have not been able to step up.

Therefore, Solskjaer should move to lure a top center back in the summer transfer window. La Colina de Nervión report that Jules Kounde is the priority target. In your view, should Man Utd splash £56million to finally get his signing done?

  1. Why is Man.Utd still not keen on coming up with the splashing of money on big players like Jadon Sancho? Although they are keen on bringing him into the club but it is like a bidding affair with the buying of players and if you do not come up with their asking price which Chelsea is willing to do so and with a big club like Man.Utd it is a shame. No wonder you do make the fans very angry promising them this and that but not really meaning what they say. It has to be done in order to win those trophies. They seem uptight and keep saying due to the Pandemic etc. All clubs we are sure are experiencing the same but even some of the clubs who still have very good players in theirs, inspite of this, are going all out to bring in the the big guns. It is only Man.Utd we can see always expressing very negative intentions. It even makes the fans more frustrated with more and more bad news.
