Manchester United are consistently linked with Raphael Varane, whose contract at the Bernabeu will expire in 14 months.
Over a week ago, famous media outlet Marca (via Sport Witness) reported that Man Utd moved in with an offer of 50 million euros to lure the French international from Real Madrid.
Transfer: Man Utd have finally moved in to sign £70,000-a-week star – Report
However, if the latest reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils will need to add 30 million euros more to secure his signature.
According to AS (press image provided below), the Los Blancos would be prepared to sell Varane, who is wanted by the Old Trafford club, for a fee of 80 million euros (£69.5million).
The renowned Spanish source have claimed that the 80 million euros would then be utilized in order to sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG.
It is further stated that if the 13-time European Champions fail to lure the Les Bleus attacker, then they will use the funds to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
AS claim that Varane is preparing for his departure and to replace him, Real Madrid are already very close to luring David Alaba, who is expected to join on a free transfer.
Man Utd have recently agreed a new contract with Ivorian international Eric Bailly but the African star has rarely played for us in the past few seasons (due to fitness issues). On the other hand, the likes of Lindelof and Maguire have not been able to form a consistent partnership in the central defense.
Therefore, Ole is in search of a new center back and there are not many players better than World Champion Varane. The 28-year-old is at the peak of his game and has already won all the major prizes in club football with Real Madrid. In your view, should Man Utd splash £69.5million to sign the former Les defender?
