Manchester United are linked with numerous defenders and the latest name in the lime light is that of Edmon Tapsoba.

According to reports going on in the media, the Red Devils are looking to lure the Burkina Faso international but it would take an enormous offer to get his signing done (Bild).

Transfer: Man Utd ready move, could finally secure signing of £165,000-a-week star

Bayer Leverkusen’s Director of Sport, Simon Rolfes told the German media outlet:

“I am not surprised that Eddy’s quality arouses interest. But the player is not for sale”

Furthermore, the 39-year-old claimed that it would require an ‘immoral’ offer, similar to what Chelsea paid the Bundesliga side to sign kai Havertz, in order to secure the signature of Tapsoba.

Last summer, the Blues agreed a mammoth deal worth £71million (BBC) to sign the attacking midfielder from Leverkusen. Therefore, Man Utd would need a similar offer to lure the former Vitoria center half.

Under the management of Peter Bosz, Leverkusen have got the third best defensive record in this season’s league campaign (24 games) and Edmond Tapsoba has regularly featured for them (BBC).

In 2016, Man Utd lured Eric Bailly, a year later, they splashed the cash to sign Victor Lindelof and in 2019, they broke the bank, paid £80million to make Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in the world. Still, the concerns at the back are there and that is why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants a new center back in the next transfer window.

Spending £71million with the COVID-19 pandemic still around should be hard and will raise many eyebrows. Nevertheless, do you think Man Utd should make a big move to secure the signature of Tapsoba?
