Man Utd’s Top Summer Target Price Could Increase To €70 Million

Ivan Perisic Inter Milan

Manchester United’s hopes of signing Ivan Perisic in the future could be hindered by Inter Milan’s decision to reward him with a fresh contract.

The Croatia international had been earmarked as the prime target for the Red Devils this summer with Jose Mourinho wanting a pacey-winger in his ranks.

However, the move could not come to fruition with United reluctant to match the Nerazzurri’s valuation which stood at around £49m.

According to Tuttosport h/t Metro, the Nerazzurri are hoping to prevent United from lodging a fresh approach in January with what is dubbed as an ‘anti-United clause’.

Luciano Spalletti’s side have begun negotiations with Perisic over an extension beyond June 2020, and the proposed deal will involve a release clause worth £64m (€70m).

Perisic will turn 29 in February next year, and such a valuation is likely to fend off any interest from United, who could look into younger recruits.

Antoine Griezmann is one player who has been long linked with a switch to Old Trafford, although Mourinho has hinted that the club could experience a relatively calm winter transfer window.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is due to return to competitive action during the New Year, and the Special One has previously suggested that the Swede could be treated as the fresh signing.
