Man Utd very interested in signing £100million attacking midfielder next summer – Face competition

Donny van de Beek Netherlands

In the summer, Manchester United were looking to hire the services of Dutch international and Ajax star Donny van de Beek.

However, the Red Devils walked away from the deal to sign him when the Eredivisie giants asked for a fee of £35million. Currently, he is valued at £100million (Mirror Sport).

If the latest reports going on in the media are anything to go by then the Old Trafford club are now looking to sign the 22-year-old next summer.

As per an exclusive report covered by Italian source FCInterNews, Van de Beek could leave the Dutch champions in summer and the likes of Man Utd, Spurs and Inter Milan remain very interested in securing his signature.

The young attacking midfielder was a key member of the Ajax squad that won the domestic double and reached the Champions League semis last season under Ten Hag. In all competitions, he made 57 appearances and directly contributed in 30 goals.

As far as the current campaign is concerned, so far, in 6 league starts, he has directly contributed in as many goals and overall, he has directly contributed in 9 goals in 12 appearances.

At Old Trafford, United do lack depth in the midfield, moreover, Solskjaer does not have a quality central attacking midfielder in the squad. Lingard can play in the CAM role but he has been highly inconsistent. On the other hand, 31-year-old Mata is rarely part of the starting XI.

In such a scenario, a top attacking midfielder should be lured and Donny van de Beek fits the bill. Taking into consideration the current situation at Old Trafford, Woodward should not wait for the summer and must move to reinforce the CAM position in January.

In your opinion, should United splash the cash to sign Van de Beek in the winter transfer window?
