Manchester United needed a bit of luck to earn all three points against Fulham last night, but they did well in the defensive third.
The Red Devils are keen on signing a left back in the winter transfer window and two names are heavily linked with them.
News – Report – Man Utd prepare deal to sign £70million star before deadline
To reinforce the LB position, Man Utd want Patrick Dorgu on a priority basis, however, if they fail to sign him, then they will push to bring back Alvaro Carreras from Benfica.
As per today’s edition of Correio da Manha, the Spanish left back is the second option for the Old Trafford outfit.
The renowned Portuguese news source have mentioned that Man Utd will only ‘move forward’ to sign Carreras for £15m (18 million euros) if they fail to purchase Dorgu.
United sold Alvaro to the Eagles for a fee of 6 million euros but have an option to bring him back for 20 million euros. For the rest, the release clause is 50 million euros.
The 21-year-old has been impressive for Benfica this term, and has scored three goals and provided in four assists in 31 appearances thus far.
However, his performance was average in the last Liga Nos encounter against Casa Pia, who won the contest 3-1.
Similarly, Dorgu will hope that Man Utd did not watch him against Inter Milan last night. The Danish international started in the left back role vs the Nerazzurri, who shipped four goals past Lecce.
Alvaro Carreras was at United for four years but did not make a single appearance for the first team. Now he is a regular at Benfica and it remains to be seen if he would like to return to the Red Devils.
