Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

Manchester United’s search for an attacker continues and they are heavily linked with PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo.

According to The Telegraph, Ajax are playing hardball with the Red Devils over the transfer of Antony and therefore, Ten Hag is now pushing to lure the PSV Eindhoven attacker.

News – Club prepared to sell £145,000-a-week man to Manchester United – Report

The renowned news source have mentioned that Man Utd will submit an offer and are expected to complete his signing as negotiations are not going to be any problem.

The British outlet claim the Dutch giants are looking for a fee of £38.2million but United expect to secure the signing for £34million.

However, reports from the Netherlands are quoting a completely different asking price.

According to Eindhovens Dagblad, keeping in view that Ajax have rejected a mammoth bid worth 80 million euros for Antony, PSV would only allow Gakpo to leave for the right fee.

The Dutch source claim the Eredivisie side want a fixed payment of around 45-50 million euros and after including add-ons, the deal should be worth 60 million euros (£51million).

Gakpo achieved double figures in terms of goals scored and assists provided last season and has started the current campaign in top form as well.

In the Johan Cruyff Shield contest, he scored a goal and provided 2 assists to help his side beat Ajax (5-3). Moreover, in the league, so far, he has directly contributed in 3 goals in 2 appearances.

For the senior national side, the 23-year-old, who mainly plays on the left wing, has already earned 7 caps, scored 2 goals and provided an assist.

In your view, should Man Utd meet the asking fee of £51million to sign Cody Gakpo?
