In days, Man Utd will submit offer to sign £306,000 a week midfielder – Report

Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

Man Utd will reportedly make a move for Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich in their bid to rejuvenate their midfield.

A quality natural number nine remains the most obvious missing piece of the puzzle for Erik ten Hag this summer. Still, the United boss also wants to add a new defensive midfielder to his side.

Casemiro has largely proven to be a positive addition to Ten Hag’s squad, but the former Real Madrid man’s lack of composure in possession hindered the former Ajax coach’s approach in certain games last term.

According to Fichajes, the Red Devils are looking to make a new defensive addition to their midfield, and have earmarked Kimmich as the perfect profile for his style of play.

In particular, his ability to start attacks from deep is highly valued by the club, making him a ‘priority’ target.

The 28-year-old was directly involved in 11 goals in 32 Bundesliga games during the 2022-23 campaign. He’s also capable of slotting in at right-back.

The Germany international is one of the Bavarian’s most important players, and his importance to the side is heavily reflected in his eye-watering wages – believed to be a staggering £306,000 a week.

However, Kimmich, despite two years still remaining on his contract, is open to departing the Allianz Arena to experience a new challenge outside of the Bundesliga.

As per the Spanish outlet, Bayern are ‘receptive’ to cutting ties with their star midfielder, who’s attracting interest from not only United but also Manchester City and Liverpool.

They add it’s expected that the three Premier League teams will start to submit their offers in the coming days to secure the German’s signature.
