Manchester United sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan before the start of the last season and the Belgian international has been top form for the Italian club.
If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Nerazzurri have missed a pending payment and that has made them a debtor of Man Utd.
Transfer: Man United prepared to bid £60.5million to sign key player – Also have Plan B
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A leaders has missed a bonus payment and now a debt of 50 million euros (£43million) has been created towards the Old Trafford outfit.
The Italian news outlet have mentioned that the Red Devils have made a proposal to get Inter out of the debt i.e. they have asked to sign either Milan Skriniar (CB) or Lautaro Martinez (ST) from Inter.
CdS claim that Man Utd are willing to agree a fee of over £43million to hire the services of the Slovakian defender or the Argentinian center forward.
Antonio Conte’s side are favorites to win the Scudetto this term and Skriniar has been rock solid at the back for them. They have the best defensive record in the Serie A this term and the 26-year-old has commanded the backline brilliantly.
In the last 7 league games, the former Sampdoria player has helped his team keep 6 clean sheets (conceded just one goal).
On the other hand, Martiez has been fantastic in the attacking third under the guidance of the former Chelsea manager.
In just 19 Serie A starts thus far, the South American striker has directly contributed in 20 goals (13 goals and 7 assists) for the Nerazzurri in the current campaign (Transfermarkt).
Man Utd do need a leader in their central defense and they also need a top striker who will be able to serve the club in the long run. In such a scenario, luring either Skriniar or Martinez would be a key capture for Solskjaer.
