Manchester United need to do a lot of work to improve the current squad under Ruben Amorim and this could mean looking at smart market opportunities. The club don’t necessarily have an endless purse and need to be clever in their pursuits.
This could mean looking at players whose contracts are expiring to sign them at bargain prices or as a free agent.

This is a tactic that has served Barcelona very well in recent seasons and Man Utd can borrow a page from their playbook.
Speaking about Barcelona, Man Utd could start by signing a player on the Catalan club’s radar – Jonathan David from LOSC Lille.
As per Mundo Deportivo, the Red Devils are willing to sign the in-form Canadian striker whose contract expires next summer.
As per Corriere dello Sport via Paisley Gates last month, the player could be available for just £16.5million in January due to his contract situation and judging by his current form, that would be an absolute steal of a price.
In 23 games so far this season for the Ligue 1 club, he scored 17 goals and provided three assists. These numbers are impressive and many teams will be taking note of David’s availability either in January or next summer for free.
Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee are the two natural strikers in the Manchester United squad at the moment and neither seems to know where the back of the net is. The goals are simply not coming and Ruben Amorim’s project is rather unsustainable at this rate.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Jonathan David and if he finds himself in a Man Utd jersey anytime soon. If they pull it off, it would be a smart signing for the club and let’s wait and see how things play out.
