Following INEOS’ takeover of a minority stake at Manchester United, they have taken over the football side of the proceedings at Old Trafford.
The last summer window was the first time they oversaw the transfer dealings and splashed around £200m.

However, the Red Devils’ on-field displays haven’t improved much and are languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table this campaign.
So, finishing in the top four seems impossible and the Red Devils might not take part in the UEFA Champions League next season, and that would mean missing out on serious cash flow.
Ruben Amorim needs to rebuild the squad to turn the situation around. But, speaking on Football Insider, financial expert, Stefan Borson, says that Man Utd’s finances are tight due to PSR rules so they would be looking to generate funds by selling a player for a big profit.
No one is unsellable at Old Trafford following their poor performances in recent times and Ruben Amorim would be open to selling one of the players who are out of favour at the moment.
Hence, it could be Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho and if Atletico Madrid submit a formal proposal worth around £50m for the Argentinian – which is said to be a possibility – then they would agree to sell him. Borson said:
“Usually it’s very hard for a player to bring a deal that’s at the price point, but I think that’s probably the message United are giving to anybody. Nobody is unsellable. I think the combination of the two means the most likely players to leave are young players or ones not in favor. Garnacho and Rashford in particular are prime for a sale. If it’s true that Atletico will pay £50million for Garnacho, then I would think United would sell.”
Garnacho was a key player for United under Erik ten Hag last term, making 15 goal contributions in all competitions and helping his side win the FA Cup.
However, following the Dutch boss’ departure, the 20-year-old has been in and out of Amorim’s starting Xl in recent times, scoring a solitary goal and registering as many assist in five starts in all competitions.
Have your say – Should Man Utd sell Garnacho for £50million?
