Ronald Koeman has confirmed Manchester United are yet to up their offer for Morgan Schneiderlin, having seen a previous offer rejected after being dismissed as ‘not serious’.
United were believed to be on the cusp of signing the Southampton midfielder, agreeing terms with the Frenchman and it was thought that United had to simply agree a fee with Southampton to complete the transfer.
But last week it emerged that United’s initial bid had been rejected by the club, as they were looking for something substantially higher than the £20m United reportedly offered.
And now Saints boss Koeman has stated that there has been no more news on the transfer from United after their first bid was rejected:
“Two weeks ago we had a big offer from Man United but it wasn’t enough. It wasn’t serious and no more bids today.”
Koeman’s words quell rumours that Schneiderlin is set to join United after the 25 year old missed training today and Koeman, revealed the simple explanation for this:
“Morgan was ill but he is coming to training tomorrow and he will travel with the rest of the squad to Austria.”
