Manchester United attacker claims Mourinho has created rivalry between these two stars

Manchester United man Ashley Young has hailed the rivalry manager Jose Mourinho has created between Antony Martial and Marcus Rashford  this season, which has seen both players perform to their best.

Both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have been impressing for Manchester United so far during the current campaign, scoring 10 goals between them despite sharing game time with each other on the left wing.

The two young players have found their top form this term for United, unlike last season where there were very inconsistent and this improvement in performances can be attributed to the healthy competition manager Jose Mourinho has promoted between the two attackers.

Such a managerial tactic from Mourinho has impressed Ashley Young and he has now gone on to credit his manager for creating a competitive environment within the team which has directly contributed to the early season success for Manchester United.

Young said, “It is a squad game and everybody wants to be playing well and wants to be in the team. Everyone is fighting for places and it is healthy if you have 20-plus players all wanting to get in that starting XI.

“You see the way our training is – it’s fast, there’s aggression there, everyone wants to win, everyone’s got a winning mentality. You take that into games and we’ve shown that this season with our results.”

There seem to be very few automatic starters in this United squad, with each player needing to work very hard to earn their place in the starting lineup.
