United battle Spurs to Sign this quality 23-year-old Defender

According to reports carried out by the Daily Express, Manchester United have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Ricardo Pereira.

Manchester United clearly possess a very strong squad at the moment but a perfectionist such as Jose Mourinho will be striving to further improve his side at all times and it is believed that the Portuguese boss is currently still in the market to sign a new right-sided full-back.

Antonio Valencia remains a key player for United but at 32, he cannot go on forever and as a result, the likes of Serge Aurier and Sergi Roberto have been strongly linked with moves to Old Trafford throughout the summer.

Now in fresh rumors reported by the Daily Express, claims are being made that United are currently looking at the possibility of signing Porto defender Ricardo Pereira.

Pereira has impressed many with his performances over the last two seasons while on loan at French Ligue 1 side Nice and as a result, a number of top clubs have expressed their desire to sign the 23-year-old this summer – with Tottenham Hotspur strongly linked.

However, it now seems like even United have joined the race for Pereira and the club allegedly sent scouts to watch the defender closely while he was in action for Porto in their 1-0 win over Tondela on Sunday, ahead of an anticipated approach in the coming days.
