According to reports from Calcio Mercato, Manchester United are set to battle rivals Arsenal in the race to sign Daniele Rugani.
Manchester United clearly need to strengthen their squad in order to be able to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title in the coming years and signing new defenders will be one of the main priorities for manager Jose Mourinho. According to IBTimes, the two English clubs are willing to make a £35.4 move to secure his services.
While United boast the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League this season, consistent injuries to key players such as Phil Jones and Eric Bailly have made things difficult for Mourinho and as a result, the Portuguese boss is currently in the market for a new central defender.
Jonny Evans has widely been linked with a return back to United in recent times and now according to reports from Calcio Mercato, the Premier League giants are also considering a move for Juventus star Daniele Rugani at the moment.
Rugani is a very talented young defender who has made steady progress at Juventus since joining the club back in 2013 but the 23-year-old is still considered a backup by manager Max Allegri as the likes of Andrea Barzagli, Giorgio Chiellini and Medhi Benatia are all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Therefore, Rugani has been linked with a move away from Turin in recent times and Calcio Mercato have now reported that Manchester United as well as Arsenal are currently plotting a move to sign the talented 23-year-old.
