Manchester United have been given bad news, as Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba have picked up injuries on international duty with France, reports L’Equipe.
Both players missed France’s training session on Tuesday and received treatment from the medical staff. Martial arrived at the camp with a minor injury but the £65k-a-week forward should recover soon enough.
Pogba has struggled all season with one problem or another but the £290k-per-week midfielder should play some part in his countries friendlies this month.
It’s a blow for France but also bad news for Manchester United, as manager Jose Mourinho will want his best players in good condition for when the international break is over. The Red Devils need to cement their top-four spot in the Premier League and try to win the FA Cup.
France have friendlies to come against Colombia on Friday, March 23 and Russia on Tuesday, March 27. Martial and Pogba may be a doubt for the Colombia meeting this week. Les Blues are preparing heavily for the Russian World Cup this summer and have three pre-tournament fixtures to come at the end of the season.
After the friendlies Colombia and Russia this month, Didier Deschamps’s side will face the Republic of Ireland on Monday, May 28, before a meeting with Italy on Friday, June 1. Their last friendly fixture is against the US on Saturday, June 9.
