Manchester United boost as £100million-rated target wants move to ‘a big club’: report

Leon Bailey

Manchester United have been given good news in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, with the £100m star talking up a future move to “a big club”.

The 20-year-old, who joined Leverkusen from KRC Genk in January 2017, has impressed for his new club, scoring and creating 14 goals in 15 Bundesliga starts this season.

Despite United boasting a lot of attackers in their squad, they’ve continued to be linked with the Jamaican u23 international and could make their interest official at the end of the season.

Bailey has talked up the idea of such a move too, admitting he hopes to join a big club when his time is up at the BayArena. He said to Bild: “Leverkusen is perfect for me.

“I want to develop and then I can take the next step. When I move to a big club, the people there will want to know me. I want to make a name for myself at the highest level.”

United aren’t the only side interested, with Arsenal and Liverpool are linked with Bailey’s signature. The 20-year-old is a pacey player and full of trickery on the wing so he would provide creativity to any side.

He may struggle getting game time over Alexis Sanchez, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford, however. Jose Mourinho is prioritising a midfielder this summer which could mean Bailey instead goes elsewhere.
