Manchester United have been dealt a major boost in their pursuit of Napoli’s Elseid Hysaj, with the defender’s agent admitting he could leave if manager Maurizio Sarri departs the club.
TalkSPORT have linked Hysaj with move to Manchester United, as manager Jose Mourinho lines up a long-term Antonio Valencia replacement, and his representative says his future depends on the Napoli manager.
“The next market in Naples will depend a lot on whether or not Sarri stays on the bench. But at this moment everyone thinks about winning the Scudetto.” Mario Giuffredi told Radio Crc, reports Sportsmediaset.
Hysaj joined Napoli from Empoli in 2015, and has made more than 110 appearances for the Serie A outfit, and is contracted until 2021. Moreover, the Albanian international, who has made 29 caps for his country, has a €50m release clause in his contract.
The Red Devils may be reticent in signing another Serie A right-back given how Matteo Darmian has turned out since joining from Torino in 2015, but they will need a replacement for Valencia as he turns 33 later this year.
Nevertheless, his future depends on Sarri, with the Naples boss a wanted man as his side are top of the top. If he stays, Hysaj stays. If he leaves, many could follow, let alone the defender.
