Manchester United boss wants £60m-rated Chelsea star this summer

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could reportedly reignite his long-term interest in signing Brazilian forward Willian from former club Chelsea this summer. The 29-year-old had been on the Portuguese’s radar during the previous summer transfer window, but unfortunately, United could only negotiate a deal for Nemanja Matic, who has been a huge success at Old Trafford.

According to The Sun, Mourinho is still keen on pursuing the Brazilian attacker, and could lodge a bid worth £60m in order to tempt the Blues into a potential sale during the summer. Nevertheless, the forward is still said to be keen on prolong his west London stay, and he could yet sign a new long-term deal with the Blues beyond June 2020.

Watching in the neutral point of view, Willian has been in exceptional form for the Blues since retaining a regular role in February, and one of his fine performances came in United’s 2-1 triumph over Antonio Conte’s side where he scored the opener off a lovely counter-attack, which started outside his own box.

Despite this, Mourinho has previously highlighted that the club won’t do any kind of attacking business during the summer with the emphasis more on the midfield due to Michael Carrick’s retirement and Marouane Fellaini’s potential departure.
