Manchester United can seal deal for £60m-rated midfielder on one condition

Manchester United could pursue the services of Paris-Saint Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, should they offer Anthony Martial as a makeweight in the proposed deal. The Italy international is also a transfer target for Barcelona in this summer’s transfer window.

According to The Mirror, Les Parisiens are open to doing business with United for Verratti, but they are said to want Martial in a player-plus-cash deal. Verratti is currently rated at around £60m at Parc des Princes and Ed Woodward is hoping to negotiate an agreement with Les Parisiens without including Martial.

Paris Saint-Germain had held a keen interest in Martial prior to his move to Old Trafford from AS Monaco in 2015, and he has since managed to adapt to the English game with 25 goals across all competitions for United.

Apart from Les Parisiens, the likes of Inter Milan and Wolfsburg have also expressed interest in signing Martial, but Mourinho has no intention of offloading the Frenchman, who he sees as a long-term prospect at the club.

United have been reluctant to match the £50m valuation for both Nemanja Matic and Eric Dier this month, and it will be interesting to see whether they can negotiate a £60m move for Verratti, who has no experience playing in the Premier League.
