According to reports carried out by the Sun, Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in their hopes of acquiring the services of Monaco star Thomas Lemar.
The summer transfer window is set to slam shut in a week’s time and while Manchester United have done very well by acquiring the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof, manager Jose Mourinho is said to be looking to bring in a fourth signing before the end of the month.
While the likes of Ivan Perisic and Gareth Bale have widely been touted to join United throughout the window, Monaco star Thomas Lemar is believed to have emerged as a priority target for Mourinho in recent times.
United’s rivals Arsenal have been pursuing Lemar for a while now but they have not been able to land the French international due to the fact that Monaco were initially unwilling to part with their young star.
However with United also in the picture, Monaco’s stance seems to have changed and if reports from the Sun are to be believed the French champions are now open to selling the attacking midfielder for a fee of around £55million.
It will now be a battle between Arsenal and United in the race to sign Lemar and both sides will surely be going all out to land the services of the talented 21-year-old.
