Manchester United could reportedly be offered the chance to sign Danny Rose from Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window. The England international has been in-and-out of Mauricio Pochettino’s side this term and has been restricted to just two Premier League appearances.
According to The Star, Spurs are already on the search for a quality recruit on the left side of the defence with Rose likely to be shown the exit door. The Doncaster-born full-back has previously revealed his ambition to move north, and it is suggested that United could acquire his services for around £45m in January.
Ashley Young has pretty much cemented himself as the first-choice for the left-back duties at Old Trafford, but Jose Mourinho would surely want a specialist who can commit his future for the long-term. One major hindrance in Rose’s deal could be his involvement in the Champions League for Spurs which would make him ineligible to feature in the latter stages of the competition this term.
Both Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy joined rivals Manchester City for a £50m plus fee earlier in the summer, and the £45m(€51) sum would present good business for United with Rose approaching the peak of his abilities. Should the deal go through, Shaw could be the player to make way from Old Trafford, having failed to make a single league appearance this term.
