Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the progress of Borussia Dortmund youngster Christian Pulisic with a view to a future move for his services. The United States international has evolved into a key first-team player for Borussia Dortmund this term with his work-rate, and dribbling abilities attracting interest from Europe’s elite.
According to The Mail, United have kept a close watch on the teenage midfielder, who is also a transfer target for Dortmund’s arch-rivals Bayern Munich. Jose Mourinho’s side had failed with a tentative enquiry for Pulisic during the previous campaign and it is suggested that an offer of around £40m could tempt Dortmund to do business.
Both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have recently struggled to find the net, and this appears to have ignited speculation over a winger signing with Bordeaux’s Malcom also on the shortlist. Pulisic has notched just 11 goals in over 75 appearances for BvB, but he has produced a number of mind-boggling displays including one in a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich this term, where his teammates failed to capitalise.
Premier League rivals Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Pulisic in the past, and United may have to act quickly, if they are to nab the youngster, who is regarded as one of the best upcoming talents in the Bundesliga. The 19-year-old recently became the youngest player to receive the USA Player of the Year accolade.
