
Manchester United have secured the services of promising Coventry City midfielder Charlie McCann, as reported by the Metro.
Manchester United have been one of the highest spending teams in Europe over the past few years as they look to reclaim old glories and the Red Devils certainly splashed the cash this summer, securing the services of Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
All of the aforementioned players have arrived to United on big money as well as huge wages and while the fans are surely excited to see such superstars playing at Old Trafford on a regular basis, the youngsters at the club will surely be worried by the club’s recent policy of bringing in huge names rather than giving players from the youth team an opportunity.
Nonetheless, this is not to say that United have completely abandoned their youth program and still continue to recruit talented young players from all around the country, having recently signed sensational 15-year-old midfielder Charlie McCann from Coventry City.
McCann had been with the Coventry youth team since the age of seven and as the youngster as shown a lot of promise already; United have wasted no time whatsoever in acquiring the exciting talent.
Following the completion of the deal, Coventry City’s academy manager Richard Stevens told the club’s official website, “When a big football club come knocking, and it is the club that Charlie supports, you must let him go and have that experience.
“We did not want to sell him, we did not need a fee for him even though there was a fee involved. Charlie goes with complete support from me and the rest of the staff from the academy. He has been unbelievable for us, even making his England debut back in August.”
