According to reports from the Sun, Manchester United have signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a contract worth around £180,000-per-week, which is 50% lower than his wages last season.
Just when it looked like Manchester United’s wonderful start to the season could not get any better, the Red Devils have delighted their fans once again by confirming that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has re-signed with the club till the end of the season.
Ibrahimovic had made a huge impact at Old Trafford last season by scoring an impressive 28 goals but his campaign was cut short following a serious knee injury suffered in the Europa League quarter final clash against Anderlecht.
As a result, Ibrahimovic was released by United at the end of the season but the Swedish superstar had been using the club’s Carrington facilities to nurse himself back from his injury.
Now having proven his fitness to United, the club have decided to sign the 35-year-old on a new one year contract and as a further boost, he is said to have taken a 50% pay cut in order to facilitate the deal.
Ibrahimovic earned around £370,000-per-week last season but the veteran will now be taking in around £180,000 weekly and while the new contract is by no means peanuts, the former AC Milan star has to be commended for agreeing to the reduction in wages as he could well have earned a lot more by moving to the MLS or China.
