Manchester United confident of agreeing contractual terms with £200,000-a-week star

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to hold contract talks with goalkeeper David de Gea amid the long-standing interest from European champions Real Madrid.

According to The Independent, the Red Devils will discuss an extension with the Spain international in the coming weeks as they look to end the continuous speculation over his future.

The report goes on to state that De Gea is much more comfortable with his Old Trafford stay, and the club are confident that he will renew his contract beyond the summer of 2019.

De Gea is currently on a package of around £200,000-a-week, and he is likely to get a decent wage hike in order to prolong his stay at United on a long-term basis.

The 26-year-old’s desire to return to Real Madrid has been made public over the past few years, but he insisted earlier this month that he is living ‘the dream of playing‘ for United.

De Gea has racked 277 appearances for the club since arriving from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011. He recently secured his 100th clean sheet during United’s 4-0 triumph over Everton and has since bagged another in the 1-0 victory at Southampton on Saturday.

The Spaniard is expected to make the starting lineup on Wednesday night when United make the long trip to Russia to face CSKA Moscow in the group stage of the Champions League.
