Manchester United departed for the United States and pre-season tour on Sunday, and Jose Mourinho selected 27 players, a combination of stars and youngsters. Down below you can see the list:
GK: David De Gea, Sergio Romero, Joel Castro Pereira
DEF: Matteo Darmian, Eric Bailly, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Daley Blind, Antonio Valencia, Marcus Rojo, Chris Smalling, Axel Tuanzebe, Luke Shaw.
MF: Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick, Paul Pogba, Demetri Mitchell, Scott McTominay, Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Andreas Pereira, Ashley Young.
FWD: Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial.
The latest arrival, Romelu Lukaku, is not included on the list not because he had minor issues with the law and was arrested in California earlier this month, but because his transfer is not yet officially finalized. However, he will stay at the El Dorado State and probably join his new teammates in the coming days.
There are a lot of defenders on this list including newly acquired Victor Lindelof, while the youngsters Axel Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu-Mensah will try to leave a good impression on the boss. In the midfield, Demetri Mitchell, Scott McTominay, and Andreas Pereira will get their chance to showcase talent. Pereira spent the last season on loan at Granada, where he recorded five goals and three assists in 35 matches, and he could be an option in the cup competitions for the upcoming campaign.
Not all the players on the list can be fully involved from the beginning of the pre-season as Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, and Ashley Young are still dealing with injuries and are currently in the rehabilitation process.
Manchester United will train at the University of California and will face LA Galaxy on July 15, while during their pre-season calendar, the Red Devils will play against Real Salt Lake, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valerenga, and Sampdoria.
