According to La Cuarta, Manchester United are interested in Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal and could agree a £52m deal to bring the Chilean to Old Trafford this summer.
The 30-year-old joined Bayern from Juventus in 2015 and has made over 120 appearances in all competitions for the perennial Bundesliga champions. Vidal has won two league titles and three domestic cups with Bayern but could be on his way out of the Allianz Arena with less than 18 months on his deal.
Jose Mourinho is desperate for midfield replacements as Manchester United could lose up to four players this summer – Michael Carrick retiring, Marouane Fellaini out of contract, Ander Herrera linked with AC Milan and Paul Pogba linked with Real Madrid.
Vidal is a combative player who would provide more steel to the midfield. The £131k-per-week star doesn’t come cheap, however. The Sun say United would have to pay more than £50m to procure to his signature. There’s no guarantee Vidal wants to come to the Premier League either.
He’ll have stiff competition this summer and could be open to a move as Leon Goretzka is joining Bayern at the end of the season, potentially as a long-term replacement in the midfield. Whether United can convince Vidal to Old Trafford remains to be seen.
