According to The Sun, Manchester United could agree a £75m deal with Paris Saint-Germain for midfielder Marco Verratti, with manager Jose Mourinho desperate for a stellar ball-player to replace Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini this summer.
Verratti joined PSG from Pescara in 2012 and has gone on to make 239 appearances in all competitions for the Parisians, scoring and creating 51 goals. The 25-year-old was a regular last season, making 38 appearances across the board, as the French giants won the Ligue 1 title and Coup de France.
His future appears to be in doubt, however, so United are preparing a bid to procure his signature. They aren’t the only side keen on the midfielder, with Juventus reportedly showing an interest, but they could agree greater personal terms which could be the difference.
Mourinho’s side will be short in midfield next season, as Michael Carrick is hanging up his boots to become a first-team coach, while Marouane Fellaini is out of contract in the coming weeks and doesn’t look likely to sign an extension.
As a result, the Red Devils need to get busy in the transfer market to ensure they have a strong midfield for a shot at the Premier League title next season. Fred could be on his way from Shakhtar Donetsk and Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is also on their radar.
Good morning to all manuted fans. And I want to ask mour which player manuted is going to sign? Because the window is coming to shout very soon.
