According to Don Balon, Manchester United could agree a deal with Atletico Madrid for goalkeeper Jan Oblak if they lost David De Gea this summer.
The United stopper has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Oblak could be signed as his replacement if the worst should happen.
Oblak joined Atleti from Portuguese Primeira Liga side Benfica in 2014 and has gone on to make more than 150 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga giants.
The 25-year-old, who currently earns £27k-per-week, has been in fine form this season, keeping 19 clean sheets from 31 league games, and is regarded as one of the best ‘keepers in Europe.
United aren’t the only side interested in Oblak, however, with Chelsea keeping tabs on the Atleti man. The Blues could yet lose Thibaut Courtois to Real if Los Blancos fail in their pursuit of De Gea, so they need a contingency plan.
Don Balon say Oblak’s asking price is £87m which would make him the more expensive goalkeeper of all time. De Gea has an uncertain future at United as he’s so far failed to extend his deal at Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old nearly joined Real in 2015 and is reportedly still keen to join them. His deal at United expires in just over a year which might force the Red Devils to cash in on him if they believe he won’t sign a new contract.
