According to the Mirror, Barcelona are interested in Manchester United defender Luke Shaw, with the 22-year-old looking destined to leave this summer after his fallout with manager Jose Mourinho.
The English international has struggled for playing time this season, sitting behind Ashley Young in the pecking order, and might have to join a new side in his bid for more playing time.
Shaw joined United from Southampton in 2014 and has gone on to make just 62 appearances in all competitions. The left-back has struggled with injuries and inconsistent form during his time at Old Trafford and Barcelona are one of many sides keen to save him from his Manchester hell.
The Mirror say Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in Shaw which could lead to a bidding war this summer. The £70k-per-week outcast can’t get a game at United for love nor money, making just seven Premier League appearances this season, but he might not feature at a European giant like Barca, Arsenal or Chelsea either.
Shaw will be keen for a new challenge elsewhere, but he’ll want to sign for a club that will guarantee him first-team football otherwise he’ll be replicating his situation at United. The Englishman has may years ahead of him to continue developing, but he needs to get this next move right.
