Manchester United could agree surprise deal with Aston Villa for Jack Grealish

According to The Sun, Manchester United could agree a surprise deal with Aston Villa for midfielder Jack Grealish.

The 22-year-old could be on his way out of Villa Park this summer after the Midlands outfit lost in the Championship playoff final to Fulham. He’s expected to have a lot of Premier League interest in the coming weeks, but United might be leading the race.

Grealish rose through the youth ranks to the Villa first-team in 2013 and has gone on to make 110 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating 24 goals.

The England u21 international impressed last season, contributing 11 goals in 34 games across the board, but he may struggle for playing time at United given the stiff competition in attack.

The Red Devils have Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez in the squad.

Grealish would likely be low down the pecking order if he did make the switch, which suggests he may be better off considering a move to a side lower down the Premier League table.

United manager Jose Mourinho has also said he has no intention of strengthening the attack this summer, which could kill the 22-year-old’s chances of a move to Old Trafford.
