According to the Mirror, Manchester United are considering a swap deal with Borussia Dortmund to procure the signature of winger Christian Pulisic, which would see Anthony Martial go in the opposite direction.
The future of Martial is uncertain this summer, with manager Jose Mourinho reportedly sanctioning a move as he’s not commanding a starting place. The French international might be frustrated with a lack of playing time this season which could see him consider a new challenge.
Signed by the Red Devils in 2015, Martial has scored and created a respectable 62 goals in 135 games in all competitions but he’s been an afterthought in 2017/18. The 22-year-old has contributed an impressive 20 goals in 44 games but has only made 18 league starts from a possible 36.
£80million star looks set to move on this summer as he can’t get a game ahead of Alexis Sanchez, and has Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata for competition in the side. If he leaves, it could be as part of a deal for Pulisic at the end of the campaign.
The US international, who’s scored nine goals in 20 caps, joined Dortmund in 2016 and has contributed 32 goals in 96 games across the board. The Mirror said he is rated at £40m, a similar value to Martial, which means the pair could swap clubs without money needing to be exchanged.
