Man United’s £75,000-a-week outcast has ‘made his choice’ to join Juventus in June: report

According to Tuttosport, Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has ‘made his choice’ to join Juventus at the end of the season, with the Italian Serie A side ‘ninety percent’ certain of landing his signature.

The 28-year-old has an uncertain future at Old Trafford as he’s hardly featured under Jose Mourinho this season. Darmian has found himself behind Antonio Valencia (right-back) and Ashley Young (left-back) in the pecking order which is likely why he’s keen to return to Italy.

Signed from Torino in 2015, the fullback has made over 80 appearances for United in all competitions, winning the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup for his troubles. The Italian international has found himself surplus to requirements this campaign, however, making just four Premier League starts.

It was recently reported that Mourinho was happy to let the £75k-per-week player leave in the summer as he’s been unable to get a game for United and Juventus are a club who have been consistently linked in the last year or so.

The Old Lady are eying the outcast as Stephan Lichtsteiner is out of contract at the end of the season, while Mattia De Sciglio has spent the majority of his debut campaign injured. Juve are an attractive suitor too, having won six consecutive Serie A titles and being currently on course for a seventh.
