Netherlands international Daley Blind could reportedly make the switch to former club Ajax in the next 48 hours. The Dutchman had a difficult 2017/18 campaign for Manchester United where he made just four league starts and he has been widely tipped to leave Old Trafford with his contract expiring in 12 months’ time.
According to De Telegraaf, Blind could re-join his hometown club by the weekend with talks already underway between Ajax and United. Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has already confirmed that the club are doing everything within their reach to re-sign Blind but it will be interesting to see whether Mourinho would sanction the move.
United are due to travel for their pre-season tour on Sunday with Blind and Luke Shaw being the only recognised centre-backs and the Portuguese may seek to delay the deal until Marcos Rojo returns from his exceeded rest after his World Cup exploits.
Regardless of this, it appears very much certain that Blind’s association with United will conclude in the current transfer window and it is more of a matter of when the Dutchman is permitted to head through the exit door. Blind has managed 141 appearances for United since making the move from Ajax four years ago.
