Manchester United enter the race for coveted Lyon wonderkid

According to Mundo Deportivo, Olympique Lyonnais president Jean Michel Aulas is desperate to tie down striker Willem Geubbels to a professional contract due to so much interest in the Manchester United target.

The Red Devils have reportedly joined Red Bull Leipzig, Barcelona and Arsenal in the race for the teenager’s signature, and there are fears in the Lyon camp that he could leave for cheap before he signs a pro deal.

Geubbels has been promoted to the first-team this season, making a total of four appearances in all competitions, and looks to have a bright future ahead of him. The Lyon striker has represented France at u18 level, scoring two goals in seven appearances, and has five clubs fighting over him at the moment.

Mundo Deportivo state Aulas has contacted the forward’s father Ludovic to respond to their contract offer as soon as possible. United and Arsenal have been watching him for some time, as have ‘half of Europe’ says the report.

The young Frenchman may well want to establish himself at Lyon before making a move away from the Groupama Stadium, but while his future is unresolved the rumours won’t go away.
