According to Calciomercato, Manchester United are ‘evaluating’ a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti who has been ‘asked to lose weight’. The Italian international will be a key player at the Parc des Princes under new manager Thomas Tuchel, but he’ll have to make changes to his lifestyle.
Tuchel reportedly cares deeply about the nutrition and diet of his players and believes Verratti is currently too big. There’s no suggestion of a fallout between the two parties, but this certainly doesn’t help improving their relationship.
Verratti’s agent Mino Raiola has been in talks with a number of clubs – United, Real Madrid and Juventus. With Jose Mourinho recently signing Fred from Shakhtar to add to a midfield of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Scott McTominay, he may feel the Red Devils have enough in the engine room.
The 25-year-old would improve the side if he came to Old Trafford, however, as Verratti seldom relinquishes possession and would dictate the tempo in the middle of the park. Since joining PSG from Pescara in 2012, Verratti has made 239 appearances in all competitions, winning five Ligue 1 titles, five Coup de la Ligues and four Coup de Frances.
