Manchester United supporters were pleased with the performance of Anthony Martial during Wednesday’s 2-0 Premier League triumph over Bournemouth. Jose Mourinho decided to ring in the changes after an average showing against West Brom and the move paid dividends with United securing another three points.
Martial, who made his first league start since February, looked rusty to start with in the south Coast, but he certainly made an impact in the second half by playing a key role in Romelu Lukaku’s goal.
Whether or not, it assures a starting spot on Saturday is yet to be seen but the fans were certainly satisfied with how the Frenchman performed after an extending period on the substitutes’ bench.
What you see with Rashford, Lukaku and Martial on the pitch is more movement and pace in the final third. Play Sanchez and it’s not quite as fluid. #MUFC

Watching Pogba-Martial linkup play is very pleasing to watch. Hopefully next season we see more of this. #mufc

Martial-Pogba link up is so pleasing to watch. Pogba has been much better tonight, honestly this combination is more effective than Sanchez on the left, really is. #mufc

What a counter attack! Superb. Martial-Pogba-Lukaku. Better attacking team without Alexis? Quite possibly at the moment.

Controversial but the Shaw and Martial dynamic showed real promise. Both were rusty because they haven't played in weeks. But if he actually played them together consistently they'd be amazing. And Pogba would love it because they both stay wide

Martial was not at his flourishing best against Bournemouth on the night, and there lies the point of being consistent with his performances on the playing field.
The Frenchman showed the added desire to track back on a number of occasions during the game but there is still a sense that Lingard and Sanchez will be preferred ahead of him for the Spurs match.
The 22-year-old has contributed 21 goals and assists across all competitions this term but he needs to make the most of his opportunities in the coming games in order to earn him an improved contract.
