According to reports from the Metro, Manchester United are fearful that they will lose the services of wonderkid Angel Gomes to Barcelona.
Marcus Rashford is an academy graduate who has gone on to make a huge impact for the Manchester United first team, and it was widely believed that even young Angel Gomes would go on to follow in the footsteps of the England international.
Gomes is a very highly-rated player who impressed for the Under-18’s after scoring 12 goals in 19 starts last season and in the process, the attacking midfielder was awarded with the Jimmy Murphy Player of the Year award in May.
As a testament to his qualities, Gomes made his first-team debut as a late substitute for Wayne Rooney against Crystal Palace during the latter stages of the 2016/17 campaign at the age of just 16 and the Red Devils certainly view the teenage sensation as one to look-out for the future.
However in a huge cause for concern for United, Gomes has not yet signed a new contract with the Premier League outfit and while the offer from the club is on the table, he could leave for nothing next summer if a new deal is not signed.
Spanish giants Barcelona have widely been mentioned as the team very keen on acquiring the services of Gomes and now according to reports from the Metro, claims are being made that the Catalans are ramping up their bid to sign the 17-year-old.
Barcelona are believed to have scouted Gomes on a number of occasions and United now fear the playmaker has his heart set on a move to the Camp Nou,
