Liverpool and Manchester United ‘in talks’ with La Liga’s 28-year-old star — who will win this battle?

Antonio Valencia turns 33 in August and Matteo Darmian has flattered to deceive

According to Estadio Deportivo, Barcelona defender Aleix Vidal could be on his way to the Premier League, with Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Everton all linked with his signature.

The 28-year-old, who joined Barca from Sevilla in 2015, has struggled for playing time this season, making just three La Liga starts. Vidal has featured only 41 times in his two-and-a-half years at the club, and currently finds himself behind new-boy Nelson Semedo in the pecking order.

As a result, the Spanish right-back could be on the move, and Estadio Deportivo believe he’s destined for Manchester or Liverpool. United have a need for a right-back, with Antonio Valencia turning 33 in August, while Matteo Darmian has struggled for form ever since his 2015 move from Torino.

Manchester City have Kyle Walker and Danilo for their right-back options, so they might not be in the running for Vidal. Liverpool are overstocked in defence, with Nathan Clyne, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jon Flanagan all capable of operating at right-back.

Even Everton have Jonjoe Kenny and Cuco Martina battling for the spot, so United might win the race for the 28-year-old’s signature if they consider making an official approach. The Express suggest Sevilla could yet bring Vidal back to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, so Jose Mourinho may need to act fast.

  1. If Utd are buying untiring he will play alongside Bailly leaving Jones spare. Jones when he plays rihgt back he is one of the best in the league and with FosuMensa as a back up that position will be filled. It is midfield he should boost. Especially a holding one.22
