Manchester United given ‘green light’ to sign £60million left-back: report

Alex Sandro Juventus

Manchester United could reportedly lodge a £60m to pursue the services of Juventus defender Alex Sandro next month. The Brazil international was previously associated with a Premier League move last summer, but the Bianconeri were reluctant to sell.

According to The Mirror, United boss Jose Mourinho has highlighted Sandro as the prime target to bolster the left side of the defence, and the club are set to compete with Chelsea for his services in January.

Max Allegri’s side snubbed a £65m offer from the reigning champions in the summer, but they are now prepared to accept a reduced sum of around £60m, owing to Sandro’s drastic dip in form this term.

Should United pursue Sandro, there could potentially be a double exit from Old Trafford with Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind linked with moves away from Old Trafford.

As per Calciomercato, both Inter Milan and Barcelona could make respective bids for Blind in the New Year while Darmian (The Mirror) is also attracting similar interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Ashley Young has been the first-choice left-back at United during the first-half of the 2017/18 season, while the likes of Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian and most-recently Luke Shaw have acted as his deputy.
