Manchester United handed huge boost ahead of Super Cup final against Real Madrid

Manchester United have been handed a huge boost ahead of their UEFA Super Cup final clash against Real Madrid with the news that star midfielder Ander Herrera will be fully fit for the encounter.

Ander Herrera has managed to establish himself as one of the most crucial figures in the Manchester United side since his arrival to the club from Athletic Bilbao during the summer of 2014 and although the Red Devils have struggled on the pitch over the recent years, the 27-year-old has proven to be a pillar of consistency.

Therefore, Manchester United fans all around the world would surely have been left very worried when Herrera seemed to pick up a nasty looking injury during the pre-season clash against Real Madrid at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara earlier this month.

To further add to the concerns, manager Jose Mourinho had revealed after the game that the injury could have been a serious one as the Spaniard usually does not go off the pitch unless something is wrong.

In a huge boost though, Herrera featured during the second half in United’s recent 3-0 victory over Valerenga in Oslo on Sunday and he appeared back to his combative best on the day.

The midfielder has now gone on to reveal that he is now fully recovered from what was a hip injury sustained in the United States and confirmed that he will be 100% ready to feature for the Red Devils during their upcoming UEFA Super Cup Final clash against Real Madrid.

Herrera told United’s official website, “I’m good. It was okay because [the knock] was not so painful, just a kick on my hip. The first two days I was really bad but now I’m better again and feel that I can play more than 45 minutes. I’m happy, but now we have to be ready for the UEFA Super Cup, which is another title to fight for.

“I know we have to improve in the Premier League, but we were the only team to win three pieces of silverware last season so we have to say that as well. In the Premier League we have to improve, we want to fight for the title, but we know it’s not going to be easy to repeat the three titles.”
