According to Foot Mercato, Arsenal have joined Manchester United in the race for Benfica winger Andrija Zivkovic, reports The Sun.
The 21-year-old joined the Portuguese Primeira Liga club on a free transfer in 2016 and could be on his way to the Premier League to join one of two clubs. United have been scouting the youngster in recent games, but Arsenal’s recruiters are also now monitoring Zivkovic’s progress.
He’s scored and created four goals in five league starts this season, and could be available for just £6.3m, says The S*n. Contracted until 2021, it’s hard to see Benfica letting such a talent leave for so little, however.
It’s unlikely Arsenal or United will add another attacker to their ranks in the summer unless a player leaves. Jose Mourinho’s men have Alexis Sanchez, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata. The Red Devils manager has publicly stated he won’t sign any more forwards too.
Arsenal have Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Danny Welbeck. It’s hard to see why either side would want to sign the former Partizan man considering they’re overstocked in attack. It’s unknown if the Gunners or United will make an approach for Zivkovic this summer.
